Ave Maria, Gratia Plena, Dominus Tecum…

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee… The first words directed by Archangel Gabriel to Our Lady became the first words of our most popular prayer to Mary.

Benedicta Tu in mulieribus et benedictus fructus ventris Tui, Jesus…

Blessed are thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus… The words of Saint Elisabeth to whom Mary hurried with help.

Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus nunc et in hora mortis nostrae.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and in the hour of our death… Holy Church crowned the prayer with this beautiful plea.

Indeed, who else intercedes for us more than our beloved Mother in Heaven?

Jesus in Lent

It’s time for Lent. We all need to think about lots of things at this time of the year. Lent goes into spring, and spring has lots of new beginnings. Just like Easter, when Jesus showed the people the new beginning as He died for us. And when he did, the world was pure again, as it was with Noah and his Ark when God sent the flood that washed all evil from Earth. But at the end God sent a beautiful rainbow and Jesus rose from the dead  — the greatest, the finest rainbow anyone had seen.

Jesus was tempted to make stones into bread as He was fasting for forty days. Satan also tried to make Jesus jump down from a high place and worship him. But Jesus said “NO!” to those things as He knew they were all bad. We remember this by giving something up during the forty days of Lent.

Why don’t you give up something like your X-box, television or sweets? Why don’t you do something brilliant instead, like invite your friends round to your house or cook dinner for your family?
Why don’t you throw away your sins to please Jesus more and more? You could tell the truth instead of lies. We all can do anything that is good, because we are children of God. It’s Satan that is holding us back. Just say “NO!” to Satan like Jesus did. Don’t listen to evil, LISTEN TO YOUR ANGEL!
